Rivas City Council this morning has become the first local government in Spain to deal with an application for apostasy, Julia Anthony, 77, through its newly created Office of Rights Defense and Freedoms. Anton was the first to resort to municipal aid in the Madrid suburb of Rivas-Vaciamadrid processed for removal from the register of baptized by the Catholic Church.

"Apostasy continues to be another right more than we have been demanding citizens, to collect signatures and through Rivas Laymen's Association, explained Councillor for Equality, Pedro del Cura.
In the case of apostasy, the office will process the request to the parish concerned when receiving response back to the office to start the next step.
"If the churches will not admit it, other procedures will be activated as complain to the Data Protection Agency to do so or requiring the archdiocese for fulfilling the law. If not, will activate an administrative litigation, "said the priest.
Service, approved in regular full-February, is free legal advice to citizens who feel they have violated any of their fundamental rights or public freedoms recognized in the English Constitution, in labor, religious, race, sexual preference, gender or opinion and advice and legal defense to cases of racism and xenophobia.
